Indication : management of anxiety and pruritus

Mechanism of action : Competes with histamine for H₁-receptor

Pregnancy Category C

Contraindication : Hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine early pregnancy

Precaution : CNS depression, Glaucoma, Prostatic hyperplasia/urinary stricture., Respiratory diseas, Sedatives

Drug Interaction : CNS depressant maybe additive with ,or may potentiate the action ,anticholinergic additive anticholinergic effects, epinephrine hydroxyzine inhibit and vasopressor effects of epineprine

Side Effect : Dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, hallucination, headache, nervousness, seizure paresthesia, tremor

Monitoring parameters : Relief of symptoms, mental status, blood pressure

Usual Dose : adult 50-100 mg 4 time daily ,children >6 year 50-100 mg daily,<6 year 50mg daily give divided dose

Patient Education : an allergy to any medicine e.g. glaucoma,liver disease, lung disease such as asthma or COPD, trouble urinating or an enlarged prostate

Missed Dose : take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next scheduled dose. skip the missed dose and take the next one as directed. Do not take double doses.

Auxiliary labels  : May cause drowsiness,Avoid alcoholic beverages.
