Indication: Tx of
mild-to-moderate pain and fever (analgesic/antipyretic)
Mechanism
of action : Inhibit
the synthesis of prostaglandins in CNS , work peripherally to block pain
impulse generation and produces antipyresis from inhibition of hypothalamic
heat-regulating center.

Contraindication
:
Hypersensitivity to Paracetamol , severe hepatic impairment and severe active
liver disease.
Precaution
: Limit
dose to < 4 g/day, may cause hepatotoxicity and liver damage ,use with
caution in patient with liver disease

Increase level of Paracetamol ; Conivaptan , Imatinib ,
Isoniazid , Metyrapone ,Probenacid

Decrease level of Paracetamol ; Hydantoin ,Barbiturate ,
Carbamazrpine

Paracetamol increase level of Vitamin K antagonist
Side
Effect :
Rash, anaphylaxis (rare), hypersensitivity reaction
Monitoring
parameters :
Relief of pain or fever
Usual
Dose :
325-650 mg every 4-6 hours or 1000 mg 3-4 times/day; do not exceed 4 g/day
Patient
Education :
Most adverse effects are related to excessive use. Take with food or milk.
While using this medication, avoid or limit alcohol to <3 drinks/day .
